Rigging for the Nation

I remember pulling up to the iconic event space in Washington, DC—a place where history and modern energy collide. The sun was just rising as my crew and I began unloading the truck. As a rigger, my job is to make sure every piece of equipment, every truss, every light and speaker, is safely and efficiently put into place for the event. It’s not just about muscle; it’s about precision, timing, and teamwork.

At the heart of our work is safety, and that’s something ACDC takes seriously. From the moment I started, I’ve felt supported with ongoing training and the latest gear, ensuring I can do my job without compromise. The steel cables, harnesses, and rigging points have to be checked again and again—there’s no margin for error in a building packed with people.

Working at this iconic DC venue means navigating unique challenges—the high ceilings, historic architecture, and tight load-in windows all test our skills. But thanks to the experience and cohesion of the ACDC crews, our team adapts seamlessly. Everyone knows their role, and communication flows naturally.

Setting up the rigging is like assembling a giant puzzle in real time. Once the main rig is secured, I watch the lights come to life, casting their glow on a space soon to be filled with excited attendees. It’s satisfying knowing that, without our work behind the scenes, none of this magic would happen.

Reflecting on the experience, I’m proud of the culture ACDC fosters. They don’t just build the best crews in the nation—they build crews who respect each other, who innovate, and who take pride in every event. Our work might be out of sight for most, but it’s the backbone of every great show. And that makes every early morning and heavy lift worth it.
